Waterfowl Festival and Sporting Collectibles Show

This year's show will feature many of the nation's best duck, goose and turkey call makers in addition to a large number of collectors' exhibits. Also exhibiting will be vendors specializing in hunting clothes and gear, boating and accessories, duck and goose decoys, wildlife prints, wildlife artists and other waterfowl and hunting related vendors. Nationally Sanctioned Duck Calling Competitions.

Nationally Sanctioned Duck Calling Competitions

Duck Callers and fans of the sport will be glad to know that the CCAA (Callmakers & Collectors Association of America) Reelfoot Lake Working (Hunting) Call Contest and the Reelfoot Lake National Metal Reed Duck Calling Championships will be held during the festival. Duck Callers of all ages and will find a place in this year's competitions. Awards and Prizes will be awarded in many categories.

Reelfoot Style Metal Reed Calling Competitions

As in years past, the RLCC will conduct a Reelfoot Style Metal Reed duck calling contest. This competition is open to anyone blowing a metal reed duck call. However, the style of calling will be judged against the traditional Reelfoot Style of calling ducks. A "Stuttgart Style" routine will not fair well in this competition. In order to help everyone understand what a Reelfoot style routine sounds like, we taped 2009 Champion of Champions event. The link below will take you to video files from each of the three rounds of this year's event. Listen to differences in the hail, feed, lonesome hen and comeback call. Pay particular attention to nuances in how some quacks in some cadences are stretched and some chopped short relative to the Stuttgart style. We would not suggest that you copy any of these routines exactly, but buy a quality metal reed call, extract a little from each of these four individuals, develop a routine and compete in October for the $1500 prize money available to the winner of this contest.

Duck Call and Sporting Collectibles Auction

Once again at this year's festival, we will have a Duck Call and Sporting Collectibles Auction that will be held on Friday, October 12th, 2012 at 6PM on the grounds of the Eagle Nest Resort in Samburg, TN with a meal beginning at 4 PM. Many different types of sporting collectibles and duck calls will be available and some great deals are sure to be found. Items are being donated to the auction for the benefit of the Reelfoot Lake Callmakers & Collectors and all proceeds will go to RLCC, a non-profit, all volunteer organization.

If you have any questions about any part of the festival or call competitions, send us an email to bwcalls22@hotmail.com .
