With Tennessee’s 2003 dove season beginning at 12 noon on Monday, September 1, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) has made looking for a dove field in Tennessee a little easier. Starting around the middle of August, hunters can just click on www.tnwildlife.org and find a list of public fields on TWRA’s Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs), plus dove fields that TWRA has leased. The web page will include maps of each region with the dove fields identified, along with additional information about each field. “Several changes have been made in TWRA’s dove field program that should strengthen it,” said Tim White, TWRA small game biologist. “In an effort to increase the number of fields that we can make available to hunters, the Agency will lease three types of dove fields.” Some fields leased this spring will be managed for doves, improved silage fields will be leased as the season nears, and the typical fall harvested fields will be leased as well. The page will be updated as new information becomes available. Hunters who do not have access to TWRA’s website, contact the TWRA Regional Office in your area for dove field information. In West Tennessee call 1-800-372-3928 or (731) 423-5725. |
