reelfoot lake fishing report

Reelfoot Lake Fishing Report for:
September 24th, 2008

Fishing is finally picking back up for the fall. Crappie started biting again last week and have provided some pretty good action this week. Bass are starting to show some signs of life and yellow bass are really biting.

The lake level is way down (16 inches below pool level), so be very careful, as there are plenty of stumps to hit right now.

Water temperature is at 75 degrees. Here's the rest:

Crappie - As mentioned, they are picking back up. Jackie didn't do too well today, but has done very well the last couple of days fishing 6 feet deep in 8-12 feet of water with minnows.

Anglers should also do well jigging around the stumps. Colors that are working well include, blue/white, black/chartreuse, pink/chartreuse and purple/black.

Look for the crappie action to get better and better over the weeks ahead.

Bass - Still just fair, but showing some signs of picking up. Anglers have done well fishing Strike King frogs in the lily pads and duck weed.

Bluegill - Slow.

Catfish - Catfishing has slowed down also.

Stripes (Yellow Bass) - Yellow bass fishing is excellent right now. Jackie is bringing in a ton of them while chasing crappie. So, if you were actually after yellow bass you should do well.

Pin minnows are the top bait and Bo's Landing appears to be the only place to get pin minnows.

Good Fishing to All!
