reelfoot lake fishing report

Reelfoot Lake Fishing Report
 June 11, 2018

     SUMMER PATTERNS UNDERWAY

Jackie Wayne's back with a June fishing report.
Early morning and late afternoon outings have produced some fish for anglers.

Water temp is in the mid 80 degree range...lake level is about 4 inches below pool.

Crappie...have slow down...it’s post spawn so what’s being caught is in lower blue basin 10 to15 feet deep on minnow Riggs. June is a good month for crappie fishing on Reelfoot Lake and overlooked by anglers. Once the post-spawn phase is over the fish transition back to a comfort zone somewhere between their spawning territory and mid-summer hangouts.

Bass...have been real slow...some anglers are relying on swim baits to fool some finicky fish into biting.

Bluegill...have also slow down...fish have left spawning beds and started to scatter...perhaps a Mayfly hatch may soon arrive.

Catfish...doing good in 5 to 8 feet deep on worms.

Folks till next time be safe and have fun
...take a kid fishing!!!
Thanks and God Bless to all ....
