reelfoot lake fishing report

Reelfoot Lake Fishing Report for:
March 20th, 2006

It's not good news on the Reelfoot Lake fishing scene. Cold weather and high winds have put every species into a tailspin lately.

More cold weather is predicted for the next few days. While that's not good news either, it doesn't necessarily mean that the bad fishing will last that long. If the weather is stable there could be some good fishing in a few days despite colder temps. But as of right now it's very slow. That's March for you, boom or bust.

Water temperatures are now down in the 40's. Lake level is still well above pool level. Here's the rest (What there is of it):

Crappie -Slow. It has really taken a hit and has gotten worse and worse since the cold front hit. If you're going after them, try the deep water areas and fish minnows very slowly.

Largemouth - Very slow. Bass hate these spring cold fronts even more. Jackie said it would probably take some dynamite to get a bass right now.

Bluegill - Slow

Others - Slow, Slow, Slow

Come on Spring Weather!
