Report for September 21st, 2001 Fall Fishing is almost here and the fishing has started to pick up, especially the crappie. Here's more: Crappie - Crappie fishing remains good. The best catches are being had in 8-12 feet of water, but the fish have been holding at different depths (anywhere from 4ft. to the bottom), so vary your depths of fishing accordingly. Minnows on double rigs are the preferred baits, but you might even try multiple hooks at a variety of depths. Stripes - The stripe fishing has slowed a little, but would still be considered good. The sand bars in 6-8 feet of water are the top areas. Bass - Bass fishing is excellent. They seem to have moved a hair deeper (3-6ft.). One of the top baits is a white and chartreuse spinnerbait with gold willow leaf blades. They are concentrating heavily on shad, so be on the lookout for shad breaking the surface. Catfish -Catfishing is good in 2-8 feet of water. Try tightlining stinkbait and nightcrawlers. Bream (bluegill) - Bream fishing is slow and not many reports are coming in. Crickets in shallow water and around the lily pads are your best bet.
