Report for October 26th, 2001

Although the fishing remains good, the wind has put a damper on the fishermen. High winds have made it tough on the main lake, but some good catches of bass and crappie have been had in the sheltered areas and the canals of the upper blue basin. Catfishing off the shore has also produced well lately. Here's the rest:

Crappie - Crappie fishing is still good. They are being caught in 6-12 feet of water fishing a foot or two off the bottom. The freshwater and cooler weather has em moving out deeper.

Bass - Bass fishing is good. Try around the lily pads or around the deeper trees. During the cooler weather, the middle of the day (9a.m.- 3p.m.) is often the most productive time. White or Chartreuse spinnerbaits with a silver willow leaf blade are working well. FISH SLOW!

Catfish -Catfishing remains excellent. They are still being caught at a variety of depths, but shallow water (4 feet or so) is one of the best bets. There have been some real nice catches being brought in off the piers lately, so if the wind is up you might give it a try.  Stinkbait has been the top bait.

Bream (bluegill) - A few bream are being caught mixed in with the crappie in the upper blue basin. But, overall it remains pretty slow.

   Stripes - No reports lately.
