Jeremy Seals fishing report

Report for June 21st, 2001

We haven't posted a new fishing report lately because there hasn't been much that's changed in the last couple of weeks. The lake is still holding right around normal pool and the water remains clear. The weather has been steadily warming without any cold fronts, even though now they would be a welcome suprise.

Bream (bluegill) - Right now it's fair to good. Crickets fished along the shoreline in shallow (2-4 feet) of water has been producing best.

Bass Fishing - Bass fishing is still good early in the morning and late in the afternoon. Don't know if they will bite in the middle of the day because it's too hot to get out there and try em.

Catfish -Catfishing remains excellent, and as we keep saying, if you've never tried it, get out there and give it a shot. These things like it when it's hot. The best fishing has been in the deeper water, but some fish can also be had in the shallow. Jeremy says, "Find a log sticking up out in the deep water, tie up to it and fish." Stinkbait, nightcrawlers and cricket are all working well.

Stripes - Stripe fishing is still on hold. Jeremy says that the minnows just aren't big enough yet. In a week or two the minnows should be the right size and the stripes should really start chasing em. The best areas are sandy bottoms like snow bar and other areas on the south end of the lake. Anywhere from Cypress Point down to Gooch's about 300-600 yards out from the bank is a good place to try. One of the top fishing methods is to fish a single minnow near the bottom in 4- 6 foot of water on top of the sand bars with a split shot and a bobber.

Crappie Fishing - Crappie fishing is fair early and late. Try fishing minnows on the bottom in the deeper water (12-16 feet).
