Report for July 2nd, 2001

Bass Fishing - Bass fishing is excellent and the average size fish being caught is good also. Jeremy went out Tuesday and brought in 6 largemouth weighing from 2 1/2 pounds to 5lbs. 1oz.. Top baits are plastic worms and lizards in shad or electric blue and white spinnerbaits. Some good fish are even being caught in the heat of the day. Focus on any structure (lily pads, tress, etc.), and fish slow..

Catfish - (Same as last week) Catfishing remains excellent, and as we keep saying, if you've never tried it, get out there and give it a shot. These things like it when it's hot. The best fishing has been in the deeper water, but some fish can also be had in the shallow. Jeremy says, "Find a log sticking up out in the deep water, tie up to it and fish." Stinkbait, nightcrawlers and cricket are all working well.

Bream (bluegill) - Right now it's fair . Crickets fished along the shoreline in 1-4 feet of water has been producing best. Try fishing below a bobber and keep your bait about 6 inches from the bottom. Try around the grass or trees.

Stripes - we keep saying that the stripe fishing is still just right around the corner and it remains that way. Not many fishermen are trying them and the ones that are have had spotty results at best. I hate to sound like a broken record, but it should get better in the next few weeks.

Crappie - crappie fishing is slow. A few are being caught on minnows or jigs tipped with minnows in the deeper water.
