Report for March 1st, 2001

The few times that Jeremy has been able to make it out have provided some good crappie fishing. But, the wind, the rain and the cold fronts have dominated all the fishing lately.

The fish are being caught at anywhere from 8 to 13 feet deep, fishing in 15 feet of water, and minnows are still the weapon of choice for most anglers.

The water at the south end of the lake is relatively clear, but the upper end of the lake is still murky from the recent rains. The lake is at normal pool which is high for this time of the year.

The average Crappie being caught are good size with very few small fish being brought in.

According to Jeremy, the rule right now is to fish slow and stay deep. One other trick is to use a double minnow rig and fish it at different depths (still in the deep water) to locate the depth they are holding.

Bass fishing is still very slow with few reports coming in.
