Report for June 8th, 2001

Bream (bluegill) - The Bream are starting to bed up again and there should be some good fishing in the next few weeks. Right now it's fair to good. The south end of the lake is one of the better areas right now and most of the fish are being caught in 2-8 feet of water. Crickets are working best, but also 1/64th oz. white guinea hair jigs tipped with wax worms.

Bass Fishing - Bass fishing is still good. Early mornings and late afternoons are best, but the middle of the day is producing some better size fish. Fish the shady banks in the mid day. Top baits are white or chartreuse spinnerbaits, plastic worms and shad colored crankbaits.

Catfish -Catfish are spawning and it should continue for a while. They are being caught at various depths. Fish the logs and stumps. Another area that's producing well is the ditches. These frequent rains have the water moving pretty well through the ditches and catfish are ganging up at the mouths because the shad are hanging in that fresh moving water. Give either end of the ditches a try and if that doesn't work, try in the ditch itself. Preferred baits are sonny's stinkbait and night crawlers.

Stripes - Stripe fishing is still just fair. They haven't really started yet, but should in the next week or two if the water continues to warm up. Pin minnows are the bait of choice.

Crappie Fishing - The Crappie are still scattered. The best catches are being caught by drifting through the stumps in deeper water (8-12 feet). Try bottom bouncing, if that doesn't work, vary your depths while staying in the deep water.
