Report for June 1st, 2001

Bream (bluegill) - Last weeks cold front really slowed the bluegill for a few days, but they are picking up some. Some of the better areas are Burnt Woods, Starve Pond and Kirby Pocket. Crickets are working best, but also 1/64th oz. white guinea hair jigs tipped with waxworms.

Bass Fishing - Bass fishing is good. Try plastic worms in shad and grape colors. Fish the stumps slow. One of the tricks is to use as small a weight as possible and flip way back under the trees. This method is hard to master, but well worth it according to Jeremy. The area around the spillway is one of the top areas.

Catfish -Catfishing remains excellent. They are just starting to spawn and are being caught on Sonny's stinkbait, nightcrawlers and leeches (available at the Spillway Bait Shop). For more information on catfishing, click on the link below.

Stripes - stripe fishing is fair to good. The top areas are Champey's pocket and Snow Bar. They are relating to sandy bottom areas. Pin minnows fished two to three feet deep are working well. The middle of the day is one of the prime periods.

Crappie Fishing - The Crappie are still scattered. The best catches are being caught in the deeper water. Try bottom bouncing, if that doesn't work, vary your depths while staying in the deep water.
