Report for April 27th, 2001 Crappie Fishing - It seems that about half of the crappie have already spawned out, especially up north in the shallow water. But, that means that half of em haven't. Lots of black males are being caught in 5-12 feet of water in the Swan Basin and Grooms Pocket area. This means that a lot of big females are still waiting to spawn. Minnows are still the bait of choice. Bream (bluegill) - Bluegill like it shallow and the cold weather seemed to affect them a little. The last couple of days have been a little slow. But it shouldn't last long. Expect things to pick up any day now. Crickets are the bait of choice, fished 3 feet deep with a slip bobber. Catfish - It's Excellent! For more infomation on this week's catfishing...click here Bass Fishing - many of the bass have spawned out. The fishing is still fair though and some good females can still be had around stumps in 3 to 5 feet of water. Jig and Pigs in Black and Blue and Shallow running jerkbaits are working best.
