reelfoot lake fishing report

Reelfoot Lake Fishing Report for:
August 21, 2012

  ANGLERS WELCOME COOLER WEATHER

It has been nice out there lately as lower humidity and light winds teamed up to produce a welcomed change to the dog days of summer.

Temperatures this week were cooler than previous weeks and that had an influence on surface temperatures which fell a few degrees. Readings this week were in the 80 to 85 degree range. Water color remains clear to light green stain.

Reelfoot Lake is 23" below pool level. Use caution when putting your boat in around the ramps and motoring across the lake.

   Bluegill: Slow

Crappie: Good: Some nice crappie have been taken in depths of 3 to 8 feet casting jigs and jigging the visible stumps and logs. Remember, the limit is 30 Crappie per day per man. There are no size limits on Reelfoot Lake.

Bass: Good: There are some good bass reports from anglers taking advantage of the cooler conditions. Anglers are finding good numbers on deeper logs and trees. Top water action was good for anglers tossing buzzbaits and assorted jerk baits.

Catfish: Good: The catfish are biting on blocks using stink bait and cut shad.

Stripes: Great: The stripes are surfacing and biting on white beetle spins and pin minnows.
