reelfoot lake fishing report

Reelfoot Lake Fishing Report for:
July 8, 2010

Reelfoot Lake is 6" below pool level, water temps are 85 to 90 degree range. Water conditions aren't that bad other than the warm water temps. The lake has dropped over 2 feet since last month.

Bluegill: Good: bluegill are being caught 3-5' around the pads and shore line on popeye jigs and crickets.

Crappie: Fair. The bite is good early in the morning and late afternoon. Crappie are hitting jigs in 5-8' water. The fish in deeper water are being caught drifting minnows. Remember, the limit is 30 Crappie per day per man. There are no size limits on Reelfoot Lake.

Bass: Good.  Bass action has held up well the last several weeks despite above average temperatures. They are bunched up in schools around the shore line and pads. Fish the shore line and pads using soft plastics, spinnerbaits, and black johnson spoon 1/2 oz. Some fish are being caught on the deeper trees using various brands of plastics and crawling them slowly.

Catfish: Good. The catfish are still biting good early and late. Nightcrawlers, stink bait, cut shad, hotdogs, and chicken liver are all working.

Stripes: Good: Some schools are showing up around Groom's Pocket, White's Landing, and Swan Basin.
