reelfoot lake fishing report

Reelfoot Lake Fishing Report for:
March 1, 2011

Fishing conditions are great for Reelfoot Lake anglers,  thanks to a welcome and overdue warm spell now in progress. It’s that time of year when roller coaster weather patterns are part of the fishing scene but the last week or so has seen temps return to a normal range and even above average on a few days.
In the aftermath of thunderstorms across the region Reelfoot Lake is back to normal pool level. The upper blue basin will be muddy for a few days. The lower basin is in good condition.
Surface temps this week responded favorably readings  were in the 48 to 52 degree range.

   Bluegill: Slow

Crappie: Great!!! Several reports coming in with fish being caught around the stumps in 8-14' water on minnows. Baits of choice have been 1/16 and 1/8 ounce jigs made by Strike King "Slab Hammer" tooty fruity, blue, pink, red color combos. Remember, the limit is 30 Crappie per day per man. There are no size limits on Reelfoot Lake.

Bass: Good: A few bassers are tossing jig and pig combos and jerk baits. Some fish have also taken fluke style worms and a spinnerbait or two.

Catfish: Good: The bite is good in the ditches where current is present.

  Stripes: No Report
