reelfoot lake fishing report

Reelfoot Lake Fishing Report for:
October 22, 2009

Lake is 6 inches above pool level and rising, water temps are 54 to 57 degree range.

   Bluegill: Slow

Crappie: Good. The crappie bite is good with some nice slabs caught on minnows or jigs tipped with minnows in 4-14' water. The crappie are still bunched up and biting good. If the winds will allow you to, get out and fish areas of the lake where large stump fields and baitfish are present.

Bass: Fair. The ones being caught are good size. Trees, dying pads, logs and some grass lines are good. Look for shad. Try Strike King 1/2 oz. Premier Plus spinnerbait in Firetiger or Golden Shiner color.

Catfish: Good. The best catches are coming from  the grassy shorelines. Chicken livers, stinkbait, and nightcrawlers have been the baits of choice.

   Stripes: Slow.
