DUNCAN-ALLMON REPEAT AS REELFOOT CRAPPIE MASTERS CHAMPIONS
March 2nd, 2008

Bass Pro Shops Crappie Masters tournament trail was back at Reelfoot Lake for a one day national qualifier. The first tournament held at the lake since the 2007 National Championship which was hosted by Reelfoot Lake. Sponsored by Bass Pro Shops, Tracker Marine, Toyota Tundra, Mercury Motors, Minn-Kota, Humminbird, Tennessee Tourism and Reelfoot Lake Tourism Council. 214 anglers competed with weather that was near perfect with low winds, sunshine and 65 degree temperatures.

One of the hardest feats to accomplish is to repeat a victory at a lake but one team did what only one other team has accomplished before. The local team of Tony Duncan and Randy Allmon won their 2nd in a row Reelfoot tournament excluding the 2007 National Championship. The team now has 3 wins out of 4 on the lake during the spring tournaments. The team stated they fished 30 inches of water, casting into pods with purple chartreuse weedless jigs using Wally Marshall poles. They weighed in 11.78 pounds on seven fish for the back to back victory. First place earned them $5300.00 and a Bass Pro Shops VIP card for the remaining year.

Second place was won by Greg Stairs and Ronnie Logan with a total 11.66 lbs. The team also won big fish with a slab weighing 2.15 lbs. The fished southern pro jigs with Wally Marshall poles fishing 5 foot deep in 7 foot waters. Second place and big fish earned the team $3698.00 for their strong showing.

Third place was taken by Brian Ramm and Jeff Heathcott whom only fished a few hours. The team had a family emergency and weighed in first with a total weight of 11.65 lbs. just off the second place teams weight. The team returned to weigh in later in the afternoon to see their weigh holding up. They stated they fished the other side of the lake from the weigh in fishing 5 foot of water. Third place earned them $1550.00

2007 National Champions Allen Chappell and Jason Sandage returned to the lake where they became champions. The team weighs in with Gary Mason of Legends of the Outdoors who MC’d the event for a strong 6th place showing with 10.99 lbs.

Next on the tour is Ross Barnett, March 8, 2008 in Pearl, MS.
