reelfoot lake fishing report

Reelfoot Lake Fishing Report for:
October 25th, 2002

Fishing remains good at Reelfoot, with largemouth and crappie leading the way. The lake level is a couple of inches above pool and the water temps are in the mid 60's. It's a great time to get out there. Here's the rest:

Crappie-Crappie fishing is good to excellent. The fish are holding in about the same depths of water (10-12 feet), but they are catching em about 6-8 feet deep. Try one pole at 6 and one at 8 until you figure them out. Minnows are the top bait.

Bass-Bass fishing has picked up again after a brief slow down following the last front. They are shallow now and probably will be until real cold weather hits (usually about 3-4 more weeks). Chartreuse and white spinnerbaits are working well. Bass in the 2-3 pound range are common and 4 or 5 pounders are not uncommon in a days fishing.

Bluegill-Bluegill fishing in the ditches continues to produce some nice stringers. Jackie recommends popeye jigs (black) tipped with waxworms. Horse Island Ditch is producing well, among others.
