Reelfoot Lake Fishing Report for: Not a lot of fishing going on, as deer and duck hunting is drawing the most attention lately. But, the crappie fishing is still good in the 10-12 foot range. Lake level is holding around pool stage and water temps are in the low 60's. As noted on the previous page, the fishing report will not be posted every week during the winter months. With most of the guides chasing ducks, it's hard to get a very accurate report of what's biting. If we do hear of some major changes we will post it as soon as it's available. Here's the rest: Crappie-Crappie fishing is still good. They are holding in the same depths (10-12 feet of water), but could be moving deeper after this next cold front. As the winter weather kicks in, look for the best fishing to come from the deeper water on the south end. This pattern should hold true for most of the winter. Don't forget that last December and January provided some of the best crappie fishing of the year. Plus, you've got the lake almost to yourself. Minnows are the top bait. Bass-Bass fishing is fair in the shallow water areas. Over the next few months a white spinnerbait is one of the best lures you can use and with the cold water temperatures you need to fish it slow. Bluegill-They're still catching a few in the ditches along with a few crappie. Horse Island ditch and Dynamite ditch have been producing along with others. Catfishing-The catfish should be about done for the year. Stripes-Slow, no reports.
