Reelfoot Lake Report for:
June 7th, 2002

 The windy conditions in the last three days, since the front, have kept the catches to a minimum. Whether they are biting or not is hard to tell when no one can get out there to try em.
 Stripes are still not doing anything, catfish and bass were doing well until the front hit. Bluegill have slowed a lot in the last few days and crappie should be getting better.
Water level is holding a few inches above pool. A good level for fishing on Reelfoot. Water temperatures were 84 degrees on Tuesday, but have probably fell considerably since then.
 Just not much to say this week and what there is to say is based loosely on a handful of reports. Look for the fishing to improve dramatically in the next couple of days with the crappie and bass fishing leading the way.
 Here's the rest::

  Bluegill- the bluegill have really slowed since the front hit. Look for them to rebound, but not quite as quickly as the other species. Might try later in the afternoons after it warms up a little. Top baits are crickets, but waxworms and feather jigs will also do well.

  Crappie- The crappie were ready to bust loose and may do it any time now. They've been slow for a few weeks, so look for a major change soon. Most of the catches are in the deeper areas on the main lake, but a few are being taken around the flat top bonnets. Minnows are the top producer.

  Bass- The bass were running the same schedule as the crappie. Just when they were starting to get better, the front hit. Some good catches can probably be had if the wind will lay. Jackie said if he had to pick a certain species to chase in the next few days it would probably be bass. Try a 1/4 oz. white spinnerbait with double colorado blades up in the bonnets for good action.

  Catfish- They were catching cats pretty well up until a couple of days ago. Once again, if the wind will cooperate the catfishing should be good. Stinkbait dip on a plastic worm and nightcrawlers are the top baits.

  Yellow Bass- nothing heard on these rascals.
