New Fishing Regulations for 2002
New fishing regulations will go into effect across Tennessee on March 1,
2002, according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA). The
new regulations can be found on page 2 in the "What's New At A Glance"
section of the 2002 Tennessee Fishing Regulations.
Regulations that effect West Tennessee are as follows:
Reelfoot Lake - 30 fish daily creel limit on crappie.
Whiteville Lake (Hardeman Co.) - the 14 inch minimum length limit on
largemouth bass has been removed.
Glenn Springs Lake (Tipton Co.) - 20 fish daily creel limit on bluegill
and redear sunfish in combination.
Poplar Tree Lake (Shelby Forest State Park, Shelby County) - 20 fish
daily creel limit on bluegill and redear sunfish in combination.
Land Between The Lakes - allow fishing during the duck season on the
Bear Creek Waterfowl Management Unit, removed the sunset to sunrise
restriction on farm pond fishing.
The TWRA Region I Office would like to remind anglers in West Tennessee
that the Davy Crockett Lake listed in the changes on page 2 is located
in Geene Co. which is in East Tennessee. This is not the TWRA Davy
Crockett Lake located at Humboldt, TN. The 10 inch size limit on
crappie still applies to this lake.
All rules and regulations on fishing can be found in the 2002 Tennessee
Fishing Regulations which are available at all outlets that sell hunting
and fishing licenses and all TWRA offices.
