Report for: February 1st, 2002

The crappie fishing has remained excellent on the lake and reports of people catching lots of em and good size ones are pouring in. It seems that people are taking advantage of the fishing before the 30 fish limit begins in March and some catches of 120+ fish a day have been reported. We also received a report of one lucky fisherman bringing in a 3lb. 3ouncer last week.

The record high temperatures have provided some comfort for the fishermen and boat ramps have been busier than ever for this early in the season.

The bad news is that a major cold front is probably coming through as this is being posted. It may not be short sleeve weather for the next few days, but that doesn't mean the fish aren't biting. Over the last couple of months, some good fishing has been had even during the colder weather.

Most of the best crappie fishing has been in the deeper water (15+ feet). The top bait is minnows.

Not much to report on the other species as of yet.

Our regular weekly fishing reports should begin again in the next couple of weeks.
