Eagle Watching Programs
(for Feb.-Mar. 2002)

During the 2002 Winter Eagle Season, Reelfoot Lake State Park will provide a variety of programs in the state park Visitor Center/Assembly Hall. Programs about the lake and wildlife will be presented on Saturday and Sunday afternoon  at 1:00 PM thru 4:00 PM. A guest speaker will provide a special program each Saturday night. Programs are free to everyone and cover a wide range of interesting topics.

Here is a list of upcoming programs:

FEBRUARY 2ND:
Reelfoot Lake, Past, Present and Future: Dr. Wintfred Smith, U-T Martin, will discuss the past, present and future of this unique area. Explore the formation, history, ecology problems , possible solutions, and the magnificent natural beauty of Reelfoot Lake.

FEBRUARY 9TH:
Eagles and Wetlands: Mr. Mack Pritchard, Education Coordinator with the Tennessee Department of Conservation, will present a program dealing with West Tennessee Wetlands and their importance to eagles. Join us and find out more about the natural wonders of Reelfoot.

FEBRUARY 16TH:
Wings Over America: Naturalist John Stokes, Foundation to Protect America's Eagles, will  provide a close-up visit with a variety of birds of prey. Learn about these beautiful creatures and the importance of these birds to the ecology.

FEBRUARY 23RD:
Raptor Rehabilitation: Join Knox Martin Coordinator of Raptor Rehab for Memphis Zoo. He will enlighten you on the efforts to rehabilitate and release injured Birds of Prey. You will also get a chance to visit with a variety of non-releasable birds!

MARCH 2ND:
Birds of Prey: David Haggard, Reelfoot Lake State Park's Interprative Specialist will introduce you to the injured Raptors that call Reelfoot home. He will shed some light on their importance to the ecology and economy of this area.
