REELFOOT'S EAGLE CAM
(March 5th, 2004)

One of the busiest websites in Tennessee is still down due to uncontrollable circumstances. The famous eagle cam (www.eaglecam.com) remains down because the eagles haven't returned to that nest in a couple of years.

There's no controlling the habits of wild birds, thus the term wild. However, the pair of eagles that were nesting near the state park, and viewable on the eagle cam, have been nesting in the same nest for the last two years. While it is located in a more remote area, there are hopes of bringing the cam back up once they can establish a definite nesting pattern.

The previous eagle cam was a simple feat of running the wires from the state park and hooking it up.

The logistics of completing a remote eagle cam are a bit more complicated, since it will now involve satellite transmission and the such. But, David Haggard of the Reelfoot Lake State Park is still very optimistic that it will eventually be completed.

To be able to watch Bald Eagles live on the nest was an incredible sight. People were logging on by the millions each month to view one of natures most majestic birds.

It was a truly great site, and here's hoping that it becomes available again. We'll post any information we have on the progress of the new eagle cam as it becomes available.
