Bass Pro Shops, Tracker Marine, Mercury Motors, Minn Kota, Humminbird and Reelfoot Lake Tourism Council sponsored the Bass Pro Shops Crappie Masters All American one day national qualifier on March 3rd in Tiptonville, TN. 280 anglers competed in cold windy weather as temperatures dropped to the mid and low 30’s with wind gust up to 25 mph. The cold brought snow flurries and rough waters to Reelfoot for one of the coldest tournaments Bass Pro Crappie Masters has experienced. Gerry Mason of “Legends of the Outdoors” MC’d the event. It was Tennesseans Tony Duncan and Randy Allmon who weathered the cold winds to take first place with a nice showing of 10.77 lbs. on 7 fish. “We jigged in 3 foot of water with floats. We caught 40-50 fish to get the seven and we didn’t think we had what it would take to win”. The team said they believed it would take a 2 lb. average to win the Classic that will be held on Reelfoot in October of 2007. The team fished with Wally Marshall rods and Grizzly Jig weedless lead head jigs. First place earned the winners $6,000.00 cash and won a Re-Action System along with Minn Kota bucks award. Second place went to locals Steve Coleman and Ronnie Capps. Coleman and Capps weighed in 10.52 lbs. They jig poled trees and pads but were not casting. Their color of jig was Lime Chartreuse using a new BnM pole designed by them. The team said October fishing would be different at the Championship as heavy growth appears. The areas they fished today would not be accessible in October. The team took home $3,000.00 for second place. Ronnie Grogan and Greg Stairs teamed up to take third place. The Kentucky anglers weighed in 9.9 lbs. and won Big Fish with a 2.52 lb. crappie, one of only 2 fish that weighed in over 2 lbs. The teamed used Grizzly Jigs weedless hooks, Wally Marshall rods and Perotti rod holders. They stated they caught the big fish right off the bat when fishing started then moved all over the place. Third place won $1,650.00 while big fish was worth $1,105.00 with the Clarks Distributing company bonus and a Proplite. Fourth place went to Michael Waters and Rick Solomon of Ohio with a seven fish total of 9.79 earning them a check for $1050.00. A tie between fifth place and sixth place teams split a purse earning each team $837.50 for weighing in 9.32 lbs. Tracy McIntosh and John Woods the 2005 National Champions tied with red hot Food Source team of Kevin McElroy and Stephen McElroy. Seventh place went to American Angler team of Wade Mansfield and Reggie Riedinger whom won $750.00 on a weight of 9.31 lbs. Eight place was taken by Josh Dick and Steve Ernstberger with 9.23 lbs. whom won $700.00. Ninth place team of Bruce and Amy Christian weighed in 9.12 lbs. which won them $650.00. Tenth place was won by Wade Hendren and Roy Logan with 9.07 lbs. that earned them $625.00. Bass Pro Shops Crappie Masters paid down 32 spots with over $23,000.00 in cash and prizes.
